Journal Alert

The Journal Alert is distributed monthly to help sudden unexpected infant death/sudden infant death syndrome (SUID/SIDS) professionals keep abreast of the latest research on sudden infant death, bereavement, and prenatal issues including miscarriage/stillbirth. Articles in the Journal Alert are selected from PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine that includes over 19 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles dating from 1948. PubMed includes links to full-text articles and other related resources.

The Journal Alert contain articles in English posted to PubMed in the preceding month with an emphasis on population studies, studies examining risk factors for fetal and infant death, and strategies for reducing deaths. Animal studies are excluded.

The Journal Alert is distributed through the State-to-State SIDS and Infant Death Listserv, which is moderated by the National SIDS and Infant Death Project IMPACT. Project IMPACT is a program of the Association of SIDS and Infant Mortality Programs and the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau that provides opportunities for MCHB state and local SUID/SIDS programs and other partners to share SUID/SIDS–related information and expertise.

For more information about the State-to-State SIDS and Infant Death Listserv or to subscribe, visit http://www.sidsprojectimpact.com/programs/listserv.html.

Since availability of full-text journal articles is often limited to journal subscribers or inter-library loan, please see your local library for copies of articles, or view PubMed's How to Get the Journal Article or Partners in Information Access for the Public Health Workforce's How to Access Journal Articles for more details.
