Setting Policy

National SIDS/ID Program Support Center (NSIDPSC)
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and the Child Care Provider: Setting Policy on Infant Sleep Position. 2007.

This information sheet provides child care centers and family day care providers with a model infant sleep position policy. The model is based on guidelines for infant sleep position and surroundings that were published by the American Public Health Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics in "Caring for Our Children--National Health and Safety Performance Standards: Guidelines for Out-of-Home Child Care Programs." The information sheet provides eight conversation points that providers should cover in their interview with parents who have a new baby.
